“Starting Off on the Right Foot” benefits Glenwood Elementary!
Glenwood Elementary has been chosen as Chicas Latinas de Sacramento’s 2019 shoe drive beneficiary! Glenwood Elementary School serves approximately 500 K-6th grade students. Over 60% of the students identify as hispanic/Latino and 93% of the entire student-body are considered socioeconomically disadvantaged.
During our 2019 fundraiser, 100% of all shoe and monetary donations collected will be used to provide a NEW pair of tennis shoes for the children at Glenwood Elementary, part of Robla Elementary School District.
Chicas Latinas’ Annual “Starting Off on the Right Foot” Shoe Drive provides NEW shoes to local elementary students in need. The children who attend our sponsored Sacramento schools live in underserved communities, and the schools and students in these communities often lack basic back-to-school supplies. Shoes are often overlooked when finances are limited, yet they are essential to a child’s self-esteem and development. Shoes that fit properly, are free of holes, and have intact soles, are unfortunately considered a luxury item for some Sacramento families
and children. It is our goal to see to it that EVERY child (500) at our sponsored school is able to start the new year on the right foot!
In order to provide every child at our sponsored school with a NEW pair of shoes this year, we’ll need to collect enough donations from the Sacramento community to provide over 500 pairs of shoes. You can help start US off on the right foot by sponsoring this great back-to-school

At the beginning of each year, our board of directors select a local elementary school to be the beneficiary of “Starting Off on the Right Foot.” Our Chicas Latinas member work diligently through the spring and summer months to secure partnerships, host donation drive events, collect donations, and build a robust volunteer team ~ so that we can provide EVERY child at our sponsored school with a new pair of shoes for the school year. With the help of our community, Chicas Latinas de Sacramento is able to (year after year) provide a whole student-body with the joy of new shoes — shoes that fit and are free of holes — so that they can focus on their education.
